Chicken soup for the soul…

Whenever I’m not feeling great mentally and emotionally, I feel like I need to get myself busy so I don’t have to think about it. For the past few days, I have been a little bit out of it, so naturally, I’ve been baking, taking long walks on the farm, checking my baby chicks, and doing other things to keep busy.

For the most part, it works well! Sunday night I made two nice loaves of bread for the week (which, might I add, were the best loaves I’ve ever baked). Last night, I made a batch of everything bagels! My husband has eaten half of them already so I’m taking it as a good sign. Today I deep-cleaned my whole apartment for a fresh start after the long Canadian winter and I made my hubby’s favorite, oatmeal chocolate chip cookies.

At the end of the day, keeping busy is the chicken soup for my soul. Taking nice long walks with my husband and my dog after dinner when the sun is setting, watching a new chick hatch from its shell, collecting the fresh eggs in the morning, these are all things that help me when I’m down in the dumps. It’s important to feel those bad feelings, but it’s also important to be able to move forward! Everyday is a new beginning, and there is good in every day (even bad days)!

That’s just my two cents on the matter, but how do you make yourself feel better when you’re feeling blue?
